   WHO AM I

Hey there, I’m Tanya! I'm a student at the University of Guelph; majoring in Biological Sciences, minoring in English. My dream is to pursue scientific writing, working for a major medical journal.

I never truly considered the option of scientific writing until my grade 12 English teacher pulled me aside and asked me if I was sure of becoming a doctor. I was a STEM student, but she had recognized that I enjoyed writing in a formal setting. With her advice, I began to take science courses in university that had a strong writing component, and eventually declared my minor in English to get academic writing training.

It’s funny for me to look back at my assignments from kindergarten and see how 5-year-old me wanted to become a famous fashion designer, but I think my dream was always within me. I would constantly ask questions, trying to understand the why, I would tell anyone and everyone what I was learning, and I gravitated towards opportunities that allowed me to work with diverse communities. I hope to grow up and be proud of the person who is working to achieve a role in the scientific community that is uniquely suited for me.

WHAT AM I DOING HERE

This is my space to navigate the world in a way that works for me! I look into science media, reflect on my experiences, and constantly learn about the world around me through my blog posts.

Digital Discoveries will take you into my Disney+ watchlist as I check off all the biological docuseries I can find. My reviews on the WILD Series and the Magic of Disney's Animal Kingdom are my favourites because I got the chance to meet a ton of cool creatures along the way!

On the other hand, Travel Times will take you through my travels of the world. From Banff to the Grand Canyon, my gallery will take you through the years of memories, with a bonus of a little information on the location if you want to plan your own adventure!
